TEST PILOT SPOTLIGHT: DAVEO
GIVE US A BRIEF RUNDOWN OF WHO YOU ARE, AND WHAT YOU’RE PASSIONATE ABOUT.
My name is David Garneau, but most people call me Daveo. I hail from the seacoast of New Hampshire. I am an electrical engineer by day, and an outdoor enthusiast in my free time. I love to tap into all that my small yet mighty state has to offer. You will most likely find me in the Atlantic Ocean, at Merrymeeting Lake or in the White Mountains when I’m not at home hanging out with my cat (and wife).
WHAT’S YOUR DISCIPLINE?
Surfing is my favorite thing to do, but like all surfers I am at the mercy of the ocean. Depending on the season if there are no waves you’ll most likely find me running, trail running, hiking, or snowboarding. I have also been known to frequent golf links during the summer.
WHAT’S THE NEXT CHALLENGE FOR YOU IN THE OUTDOORS?
I have been winter hiking for years, and I love ascending mountains. The descent is less enjoyable for me while hiking, so a split board may be in my future! I’m looking forward to exploring the mountains in different ways and completing my 48 of the 4000 footers in NH. I also recently tried climbing in a gym and really enjoyed it, so that has got me thinking...
WHAT ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF IN YOUR DISCIPLINE?
I love all the ways I have gotten to experience the outdoors of NH. I surf year round and brave single to negative digits in the winter because Nor'easters are often our best swells of the year. I have hiked the Pemi-Loop, the presidential traverse multiple times, and ran up Mt. Washington Auto Road as part of the road race (2x) and snowshoe race. I do these things because I love it, and I have been lucky to have my hobbies take me around the country and world.
WHAT PIECE OF FLORENCE GEAR DO YOU TEST THE MOST?
I live in the OG sun runner hat. For running/hiking I am in love with all things Airtex. I also worked with the Legend Bruce Moore on a winter suit that I am excited to get into the water and test this winter!
